My wife had a great idea in 2004. She had always asked me if there were any single firemen in the Southern California fire department I work for. In my sixteen years as a firefighter, that has been one of the primary questions asked by friends, relatives and anyone on the street. One day my wife said "Why don't we start a dating website for firefighters?" I first laughed, and then I paused and thought hmmm, that is a great idea. So for the next year we did research, made phone calls, got an equity line on our house, and got started.
As we started the process, we did not want to leave anyone unappreciated. So we decided to include police officers and military personnel. We want to go on record as saying that firefighters, police, and military are not the only heroes in our society. I think teachers are also one of our biggest heroes in the U.S. along with everyone else who takes care of our children and helps our country run smoothly. We decided to honor those who literally put their lives at risk for others every day. Unlike other dating websites, we do not and will not ever ask the heroes to pay. It is the very least we can do.
On July 4 th 2005, we were finally online. So here we are on a shoestring budget and working from a desk in our living room. We are not a massive online company; we are just a family business. So please be patient with us if there is a problem with the site or we are slow returning an email.
